Judge LaTosha McGill Clayton has been a proud resident of Fort Bend County for over 40 years and is a product of the Fort Bend Independent School District, attending Blue Ridge Elementary, Quail Valley Junior High (now Quail Valley Middle School), and Dulles  High School. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University, her teaching certification from University of Houston-Downtown, and her Juris Doctorate from Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Judge Clayton began her legal career in 2005 by founding The McGill Law Firm practicing primarily Family Law as well as Criminal, Personal Injury, and Wills and Probate.  She later served as a Legal Enforcement Attorney with the Harris County Domestic Relations Office before being appointed Associate Judge of the 505th Judicial District Court in 2021. Beyond the Courtroom, Judge Clayton is active in her community and committed to service. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and Top Ladies of Distinction where she has chaired several committees, including Status of Women, Legislative Action, and Advocate for Social Justice.  As a practicing attorney, she provided pro bono services with the  Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program, Legal Lines with the Houston Bar Association, and served as a volunteer mediator with the Fort Bend Dispute Resolution Center. Judge Clayton  is committed to serving families with compassion by placing families first-listening to the facts, applying the law fairly, using discretion when necessary, and remaining impartial in every case.
